The Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday is an ancient tradition that reflects the significance of the gesture Jesus performed on the night before his crucifixion.

After the homily, 12 people will be seated on chairs on the altar. The priest will go to each, pour water over each person’s foot and then dry them. (Wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off.)
The Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper on April 17 will be at 4pm at St. Conrad with Father Kevin presiding and at 7pm at St. Paul with Father John presiding.
This ritual is not a required part of the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper liturgy; we will not have the rite if we do not get enough volunteers.
Lent: Abstaining from Meat and Fasting
Catholics are called to abstain from meat on Fridays in Lent and also to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
The obligation of abstinence begins at the age of 14.
The law of fasting means we limit ourselves to one full meal and two lighter meals. This obliges all between the ages of 18-59.
Individuals who have a medical condition in which fasting may be considered harmful are not obliged to fast, but should perform some other act of penance or charity.
All members of the Christian faithful are encouraged to do acts of penance and charity during the Lenten season beyond what is prescribed by the law.
